Discover why, when the Science Fiction Writers of America voted for the best science fiction short stories of all time, "A Martian Odyssey" came in second!

The field's best writers, past and present, sing his praises. "Incomparable science fiction," said E.E. Smith, Ph.D. "His original treatment of aliens, his emphasis on psychology, philosophy, maturity in the handling of men-women relationships, versatility and craftsmanship have become the fundamental ingredient in modern science fiction," declared Sam Moskowitz. According to H. P. Lovecraft, he possessed the "imagination to envisage wholly alien situations and psychologies and entities, to devise consistent events from wholly alien motives … a light touch—and genuine suspense…" And even Isaac Asimov described Weinbaum's effect on the sf world with awe: "Hidden in this obscure magazine, A Martian Odyssey had the effect on the field of an exploding grenade. With this single story, Weinbaum was instantly recognized as the world's best living science fiction writer, and at once almost every writer in the field tried to imitate him."

Discover Weinbaum for yourself in this unique collection of six novelettes and a short novel that showcase his talents at their finest. Included are such masterworks as "A Martian Odyssey," "The Valley of Dreams," "Tidal Moon," "Pygmalion's Spectacles," "Circle of Zero," and "The Dictator's Sister."
